FCAI will be hosting their annual Rockford General Membership Meeting at the beautiful Prairie Street Brewhouse in Rockford on Wednesday, August 15.
The special guest speakers of the evening are Gary Anderson, founder of Gary W. Anderson Architects, and Jake Castanza, Executive Director of Project First Rate.
Mr. Anderson will be the primary speaker of the evening. His presentation will cover the redevelopment efforts underway in downtown Rockford. He will give an overview of recently completed projects downtown and invite us to consider what future development will look like in Rockford’s urban core.
Mr. Castanza will follow Mr. Anderson’s presentation with a brief discussion on the recent accomplishments and issues facing Project First Rate. He will also address the programs and job training available to members, as well as his recent work with end-users and new members.

About the Special Guest Speakers
- Gary is the founder and a principal architect of Gary W. Anderson Architects. For over 45 years, Gary has earned a reputation for revitalizing and enlivening existing structures in a way that emphasizes their character and charm. Gary has been involved in numerous building projects that have contributed to the revitalization efforts underway in downtown Rockford. Gary has earned the Gold Medal award, the highest honor given by AIA Illinois in recognition of outstanding lifetime service by an AIA member.
- Jake is the Executive Director of Project First Rate located in Rockford. Project First Rate (PFR) is a partnership between union contractors and union craftsmen to promote quality craftsmanship with pride, integrity, and commitment to the community. Jake is also running as a Democratic candidate for the Illinois General Assembly House of Representatives in the 68th District.
